Job Title:                  Outreach Specialist (focusing on men and gay men)

Reports To:              Program Director & Executive Director

FLSA Status:            Non-Exempt

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Outreach Specialist is a participant in conducting HIV/Hepatitis C/Sexually Transmitted Infection (HIV/HCV/STI) Counseling, Testing, and Referral/Linkage to care services (HIV CTR/LTC), prevention strategies, and comprehensive prevention education in an outreach setting. The Outreach Specialist will perform outreach activities and assist H.O.P.E. to better engage men, through community outreach, at high-risk of HIV/HCV/STI infection, transmission and re-infection in urban and rural areas. The Outreach Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing traditional and digital outreach strategies that support H.O.P.E.’s overall mission.  The Outreach Specialist should have an intimate knowledge of the communities our Men’s and Gay Men’s program serve.  The Outreach Specialist will be H.O.P.E.’s representative outside of the clinic and will be expected to demonstrate H.O.P.E.’s values while providing services to the public.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develop and conduct on-going community outreach targeting men at-risk for HIV/HCV/STI
  • Identify sites where men at risk for HIV/HCV/STI gather
  • Provide counseling, medical testing, and linkage to care for at-risk men in accordance to the standards defined by the Oklahoma State Department of Health
  • Research trends in gay men’s dating apps and ensure H.O.P.E. maintains an outreach platform on popular dating apps
  • Use dating platforms to reach at-risk men within the Tulsa MSA and rural counties
  • Perform phlebotomy and urine collection as needed. Routinely manages pre-analytical considerations for blood and urine specimens (e.g. appropriately labels, draws, centrifuges, preserves, and logs samples that are destined for an offsite laboratory)
  • Provide referral/linkage to medical care and social services
  • Maintains accurate programmatic activity logs
  • Assist in data entry
  • Assist the Executive Director by delivering pertinent programmatic data (e.g., testing data, client demographics, interventional methodologies, or anecdotes concerning client services) to support funding requests
  • Participate in community health fairs and other community events as requested by the Executive Director   
  • Work after hours and weekends as requested
  • Work walk-in clinic hours at H.O.P.E. in times of staffing shortages
  • Participate in on-going professional development trainings.

Education:

  • GED or High School Diploma required, Bachelor Degree preferred.

Experience:

  • One year of experience working with and/or providing care to LGBTQ+ populations, MSM, and rural, and/or previous experience providing HIV/HCV/STI services.

Qualifications:

  • PC/Tablet literacy on a variety of operating systems required
  • Must be able to work independently and be self-motivated
  • Must be open to a flexible schedule. Typically, Monday through Thursday with some evening and weekend outreach opportunities
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding agency and constituent information required
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of personal automobile insurance required.
  • Excellent oral communication skills.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Previous HIV/AIDS, HCV, and/or STI evidence-based training
  • Bilingual
  • Previous phlebotomy experience preferred but training will be provided to the new hire.

Salary and benefits: 40 hours a week position @ $35,000 salary with additional package of health, life, and dental insurance paid by HOPE. Paid vacation and sick time. Retirement plan also available.

Job Title:                  HIV/STI/HCV Physician or APP

Reports To:              Executive Director

FLSA Status:            Exempt

Position Summary:

HOPE is looking for a part-time (approximately 16 hours a week) Physician or APP for HIV/STI/HCV evaluation, treatment, and linkage to care.

Job duties:

  • Participates in treatment of patients with HIV/STI/HCV from age 12 through 65+
  • Examines patients
  • Requests laboratory tests and interprets results
  • Participates in the linkage to care for those with longer-term needs
  • Treats urgent cases
  • Obtains medical histories from patients and relatives
  • Maintains and reviews patient records
  • Makes diagnoses
  • Participates in H.O.P.E.’s Medical Direction Committee
  • Provides telemedicine services when appropriate
  • Attends seminars and conferences
  • Provides professional guidance to assure that treatment plans are carried out
  • Explains diagnoses, techniques and medications
  • Assigns duties to other staff and interns during treatment hours
  • Collaborate with staff on training needs
  • Performs related duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Physician MD/DO with Prescriptive Authority credentialed from the Oklahoma Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required
  • One (1) year of experience as a licensed physician.

Experience:

  • Experience with the microbiology and pathogenesis of any of the following diseases: human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), sexually transmitted infections (STI’s), and hepatitis C virus (HCV)
  • Experience with public health programs focused on HIV, STIs, and HCV
  • Experience conducting infectious disease surveillance and analytical epidemiological studies
  • Experience presenting epidemiological data and analyses in both written and oral formats.

Salary

$80 – $125/hr for up to 16 hours a week.
