What is AIDS?
AIDS is an advanced stage of HIV and can only develop if a person already has HIV. AIDS is a disease that causes loss of the body’s cellular immunity, causing those infected to have a low resistance to fighting off infections. More than 1 million people in the United States have been diagnosed with AIDS. Unfortunately, 25 percent of the population with HIV is unaware they are carrying the virus. Therefore, it’s important to identify AIDS symptoms as early as possible.
